Kelsey + Tim // Dupont Circle in the Fall
Hello! It’s been a minute since I’ve posted here. What better way to get back to sharing photos I love than posting one of my favorite sessions from this past fall? It might be surprising that it’s a session from DC since I spend so much time in the mountains and woods, but DC has been one of my home bases for weddings all these years. I personally love finding cool little nooks and crannies in alleys and think that in a way, the setting simplifies things and puts the focus more on the people I’m photographing.
Which, speaking of - Kelsey + Tim are so much fun. I always tell my couples that the first 5-10 minutes are kind of awkward, and then you’ll get over it, but that didn’t happen with these two. We jumped right in to having a blast and it felt like photographing old friends. They showed me a couple really pretty corners of Dupont Circle I’d never seen before, we found some surprising spots of fall color, and we talked about all our favorite concerts while we wandered the neighborhood.
This is some of the work I’ve been proudest of in quite a while. It feels kind of ironic to have so much of a colorful, fall day be in monochrome, but I love it when black and white works as well as it does here - makes it so romantic and cozy. I think we really nailed an especially authentic vibe, like I just dropped right into their lives, and Kelsey + Tim were a big part of that. I’m so excited for their wedding at Eastwood Winery in the fall. :)
