Allie + Ben // a golden-lit Zephyr Lodge at Northstar wedding in Lake Tahoe
Something I love dearly about this job is the way my couples’ stories become intertwined with my mental map of far-away places that I probably never would have ever visited otherwise. Allie + Ben’s wedding at the Zephyr Lodge at Northstar colored my memory of Lake Tahoe with so much light and love. The beautiful alpine slopes beneath the Lodge were a perfect backdrop for their day because they spend a lot of their free time skiing, both here at Northstar and all over the country, and the skiing theme ran right through every piece of decor they put together.
We did their first look in a tucked-away grove of Very Tall Trees (the likes of which can only be found in California), spent some time hanging out with their pup Jax (a certified wigglebutt), and then hopped on a lift up to the lodge.
I’d never experienced a wedding at 8000’ before, a wedding with mountain bikes flying by in the background, or a wedding with a sunset quite this perfect. It’s hard to say what exact combination of factors came together to make everything this radiant and gorgeous, but man. It was like the entire mountain was painted in magical light for a full golden hour. The lingering snow on the slopes that allowed for some hilarious mid-cocktail hour sledding entertainment in the background while we took portraits was just the icing (literally) on the cake.
More of this, please?
