An evening adventure in Grayson Highlands

Shewwww. Grayson Highlands State Park is one of those places I’ve wanted to shoot a session at for years - beautiful views, wild ponies, and meadows at 6,000ft+, c’mon - but it’s so far off the beaten path that no one was ever up for the journey.

Enter Jess + Ben, who wanted their engagement session to be somewhere with as close to PNW vibes as possible. Grayson Highlands immediately came to mind, and they were totally game. So we ventured down to this very far-off corner of VA one summer Saturday, in the shadow of Mt. Rogers (the highest peak in VA), with their Very Good Boy Oakley and picnic supplies in hand, and had a blast. I felt like we were in Olympic National Park (without the snow).
