Marek + Julianne // A King Family Vineyard Wedding in the Fall
I’ve always thought of King Family Vineyards as “the” wedding venue in Charlottesville for mountain views. It makes sense - their backyard directly faces the boundary of Shenandoah National Park, only a few miles away. I photographed a wedding here years ago, in my very first year of business, but I haven’t gotten a chance to return until this past fall. I was super stoked about it because Marek + Julianne’s wedding fell on what should have been one of the best Saturdays for fall color. It absolutely did not disappoint!!
I imagine that what many couples think about when dreaming of a wedding here is the ceremony backdrop - and don’t get me wrong, it is beautiful (as you can see) - but to me the dreamiest part is the way the mountain ridges and colorful trees light up at golden hour. It’s gotta be one of the prettiest backdrops of any Charlottesville wedding venue. I loved taking a quick drive over to the rows of mountain-adjacent vines with these two as the sun was setting.
Their party afterwards was also a ton of fun - a live band always makes for a better party! A couple other details I really loved were the mountain-themed, stamped centerpieces that Marek + Jul made themselves, and the fact that they brought animal masks for their guests to wear during the dance party. I love that even after all this time my couples are still bringing awesome surprises that I’ve never seen before.
