Sarah + Michael // A Thorpewood Wedding in the Woods

Sarah + Michael are so great. When I showed up, they were just hanging out together - no first look, just getting ready together and so happy. I love the casual direction they went with their day, from Michael + his groomsmen' plaid, to the scarves Sarah knitted for everyone, to the fact that she rocked a fleece jacket and Sorel boots on her wedding day - they were so chill. 

I don't think you could've asked for a better NYE wedding than theirs, either. The weather was so seasonally mild that they were able to have an outdoor celebration in the woods at Thorpewood in Thurmont, MD. Guests grabbed blankets, hot cocoa, and snuggled up as these two said their vows and tied a literal knot with her dad officiating. 

Sarah wanted nothing more than for it to snow during their ceremony, and it started flurrying right before their first kiss, so that was pretty dang magical. 

We took portraits with their pups by their cabin and then stumbled upon an unexpected barn with string lights strung up. Had to dance around for a bit up in the loft, because obviously.

They finished the night singing "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes together, and it just doesn't get any better than that.
