Sarah + Mason // a boho Alexandria River Farm wedding
I feel like I've lived through a whirlwind with these two. Last year, I went on an adventure session with them - not an engagement session - in Shenandoah. It was one of the highlights of 2016 for me and is still one of my favorite shoots. Fast forward to a month later when I delivered that gallery and found out that Mason had proposed, and they asked me to document their celebration at the River Farm in Alexandria. Don't think I could've said yes faster.
Sarah + Mason are the kind of couple you only come across once in a while. They were high school sweethearts and I continue to be blown away by how magnetic they are towards each other, even after hours of adventuring and an entire wedding day. Every single time I turned around they'd be doing something new and adorable.
During their first look, Mason described Sarah as being "like a beautiful mermaid, but from the forest," which is pretty spot on. That dress + floral + flower crown combo was perfect alongside all of their DIY decor. As someone who can't draw a straight line, looking back at the hand-painted seating chart still blows my mind.
From beginning to end, there were just so many little details that I loved - all of the emotions in the ceremony, Mason's doing his signature dance in front of their guests, the way his little bros chased the two of them back down the aisle with flower petals, those tear-jerker parent dances. And just the level of love visible in Mason's face in so many of these photos. Couldn't think of a better setting for all of joy than River Farm's gardens + riverside along the Potomac.
Definitely hope to hang with these two again in the future. Thanks for having me along to document all of these parts of your story together, you guys.
