Natalie + Danny // A Wedding at Murray Hill
The first thing Natalie ever told me about their wedding was that her + Danny were quitting their jobs afterwards to travel the world for six months - the coolest introduction a couple has ever given me.
Their celebration at Murray Hill was so full of joy it's really hard to put into words (so I won’t try for long!). The ceremony overlooking the Potomac was officiated by a close friend. Danny's reaction when he saw Natalie (even after having a first look) was totally priceless. I loved how he asked if their guests could leave and come back in 30 after he stopped crying. It's totally cool for grooms to cry!
Natalie + Danny call each other "Goose", so their officiant had everyone make hand geese in the air before their first kiss.
They had both warned me that Danny was not a huge fan of smiling in photos and had been practicing this skill for months beforehand, but he totally rocked it. The best part of photography centered on moments is that you get to spend portrait time just hanging out with your best friend instead of staring down an intimidating camera, plus the photos feel more authentic.
Win-win.
The happy vibes were really amplified by the beauty of Murray Hill - a large estate in Leesburg spread across rolling hills that gave me heavy summer music festival vibes. Maybe it was traipsing through a lantern-lit wooded path at dusk to get from cocktail hour to the reception. Maybe it was the epic dance party that took place in the barn. Who’s to say, really, but this place was incredible.
I love you guys and am dying living vicariously through your adventures on Facebook. Can't wait to go hiking in Shenandoah when y'all make it back state-side!
